All R1150R customers please read the following before placing your order:

03-18-03 - We have found that some of the R1150R's have a 2mm difference on their triple tree extension and are in the process of testing the modified risers for your bike.  Before you order you may want to check the mounting to see if it is flush or about 2mm difference.  If you have already installed a set on your bike with spacing issues, mail them back to us and we will ship a modified set out to you.    I have attached a picture of an R1150R which has the spacing issue.  I will post a new picture with the modified set on the same bike.  The picture below that  is also of an R1150R with the mounting flush, so we are pretty unsure if the newer bikes are the affected ones and as we get more detail we will post it to this page.  We are working to resolve this problem and would love to hear from any of you who are wanting or have already got the risers.  Pictures will also be greatly appreciated with the year of the bike.  Thanks and I look forward to hearing from everyone.  A special thanks to George Chacko and Eric Wenninger for helping us.  Tricia

03-21-03 - George Chacko got back with me on the modified set and said it is a good fix and he will be sending pictures soon.  I'll post the pictures as soon as I get them.

03-28-03 - Eric Wenninger sent us pictures with the modified set installed

06-25-03 - We have now found out that all the 2002 and newer R1150R's will have the spacing issues.  If you have a 2002 and newer you must order the modified version.

These bars work on all of the GS (R1100GS, R1150GS, R100GS, etc.) and  K series bikes, (known K bikes they work with) K1, R100RS as well. As we find more bikes that they work with we will post them to this page.  Works with stock cables and brake line. Supplied with all the stainless steel hardware.  We suggest you use an anti-seize lubricant to the threads prior to installation.

Installing the risers for the 513-062 (same for the 513-061 just different screws) Courtesy of George Chacko:

There are three sets of screws. Do NOT mix them up. The terms "leading” is
used to describe the positions of screws that are closest to the front of
the bike. The term "trailing" is used to describe the positions of screws
closest to the tail of the bike. The term "middle' means...well middle.

 a) Cut the ties that cluster the cables leading to the bars. You probably
need to cut two ties on each side. This loosens up the brake and clutch
cables etc., gives you enough room to work with and accommodates the new
 position of the bars.

 b) Using the hex wrench from the owners toolkit remove the bolts and then
the OEM upper clamp that secures the bars.

 c) Have a helper hold the bars for you while you insert the lower clamp
from the Moto-Techniques Bar-Risers. Refer to the diagram provided.

 d) Apply anti-seize to all 6 bolts.

 d) Position the lower clamp then insert and loosely tighten the leading
 bolts (M8x1.25x35).

 e) Place the bars in the scoop-out in the lower clamp. Make sure they're
correctly angled. Tap them gently into place with a rubber mallet.

 f) Position the upper clamp. Insert the long screws (M8x1.25x60) in the
 middle and tighten very lightly.

 g) Insert the short screws (M8x1.25x30) into the trailing holes. Tighten
 very lightly.

 h) Tighten the long screws (middle) first. Do not over tighten. I used
 "snug plus 1/8 turn".

 i) Tighten the leading screws next and finally the trailing screws.
 Inspect your handiwork.

 j) The screws will loosen a bit in the next hundred miles so inspect and
retighten as needed. Threadlock might be needed.

 Total time...approx 10-15 minutes.
